THE VIEW FROM THE SUMMIT
OCTOBER 12, 2008
Carl and I drove south to Uniontown, PA, then headed up Chestnut Ridge to
have lunch on the porch of the Summit Inn.

The road up to the Summit Inn.

Just before you get to the Inn there is a place to stop and look back down at Uniontown below.

Looking back down the road from the overlook.

The view is to the west and a dozen years ago I watched a sunset from here.

The Summit Inn opened for business in 1907 and became a popular destination for people to drive to from Pittsburgh.
It's built beside the National Road (modern Rt. 40), which was begun in 1813.
