FLORAL CLIPART
BLUE POPPIES (MECANOPSIS):
I think the color of these is simply fantastic. They don't like the climate in Pennsylvania
(they love Scotland, though) but one year I tried to grow some in pots, the same year
my friend Susan in England was also trying. We had sort of a community between us
of two frustrated Mecanopsis growers. Susan is the one, who in my epi saga, was always
carrying a blue poppy with her wherever she went. I especially like when sunlight is
shining through the petals of the thinner-petaled variety. If I were told I could have
a garden but only one flower type in it, hands-down it would be this. I find them
utterly, completely exquisite even though I've never seen one with my own eyes.
