And below are some of the lilacs from my old garden. When we moved to that house in March of 1989 the only flowers there had obviously been there

for nearly a century (house was built in 1898) and were a row of tall lilacs on one side, two huge rhododendrons next to one wall of the house, and

several big white spirea bushes. The first two pictures, though, are a small lilac I planted that has more delicate individual florets. It's from Japan and

is called a Kimberly Lilac.

 

 

The rest are of the old lilacs...

 

 

The one below is looking down out an upstairs window.

There was a short path between one of the lilacs and a big old yew and when the petals fell, the entire path would be coated in them:

 

 

The people who control the garden now have cut them back to nubbins. I guess it all comes down to a matter of taste, eh?
