AUTUMN OUT THE CAR WINDOW
OCTOBER 11-12, 2008

This first section was taken out our car windows as we headed east on Rt. 22 on our way to Bellefonte. In the morning,
the hills still looked bluish in the early mist.

At Altoona, we left 22 and headed north northeast on 220, a lot of which runs high along the Allegheny ridges
with lovely views of forested hills going off into the distance.

We'd been in Bellefonte and now were heading back down 220 and I was enjoying what the sky was doing.

This ends the 220 section.

The next morning we climbed Chestnut Ridge to the Summit Inn.

This is the main building of the Nemacolin Woodlands resort.

The main hotel at Nemacolin Woodlands. There are 3000 acres here with several large places to stay,
condos, 2 golf courses, and about every sort of outdoor and indoor activity you can think of. It is named
for Chief Nemacolin, a Delaware Indian who trailblazed through this area in 1740.

I liked the sunlight on these grasses at Nemacolin, but actually got out of the car to see if I could
get a better shot in the one below.

Heading north from Ohiopyle toward Seven Springs there was a section that was still very green.

The entrance to the famous Fallingwater house. I'd been there twice and we weren't stopping today.

Getting closer to Seven Springs, which is Pennsylvania's largest ski area.

These are along the entry road to Seven Springs.

Just about to leave Seven Springs

The rest are coming home from Seven Springs

This is a good one to end with as that blip on the horizon is Pittsburgh.
