The Warrior
Part Twenty Nine
By Bailey
Several years ago, wildbearies wrote the first 28 chapters of a story she
called The Warrior, but never finished it. Bailey has written a short
29th chapter to wrap it up, to explain how Maximus gets rid of his unwelcome guests,
and with wildbearies' permission, I am putting it up on Libriscrowe.
The original 28 chapters may be found HERE
There were a couple of more 'incidents' that day that Varinia kept me informed of. One in particular had me doubled over in laughter. It seems Decimus asked to take Flaviola for a ride. He told her mother that he was hoping Lady Joanna would soon be able to move back to her own villa. He wanted to ride to her estate and see how the work was progressing and felt Flaviola would benefit from the crisp morning air. Once Lady Joanna was gone he could court Flaviola properly. Apparently Lady Flavia was less put off by Decimus’ performance the night before than her daughter was. She agreed, over Flaviola’s protests, and the two rode off to inspect my property.
Along the way Decimus detoured to an abandoned outbuilding. He helped Flaviola off her horse. “What are we doing here, General?”
Maximus smiled, “I thought we should spend some time alone…get to know one another…without your mother around.”
Flaviola was a little nervous. “How do you mean, General?”
“Well, I thought we could play hide the sausage.”
“Sausage?”
Maximus grabbed his crotch and shook his genitals. “Sausage.”
“Sir, we aren’t betrothed yet. Surely you aren’t suggesting intimacy?”
He moved close to her and whispered, “I can hardly stop myself. I hope you understand we country people indulge morning and night. Once you’re pregnant I will consider mornings only. That way you will be rested from the night. I like multiple partners as well. Perhaps you could pick a slave girl that appeals to you. Until then however, we’ll have to make do with just us.”
Maximus ran his hands down her hip suggestively.
“General please! I don’t intend to indulge in sex until after the proper ceremony! What do you take me for? A common tart?”
Maximus just smiled wickedly. “I love tarts!”
“I wish to return to the villa!”
“As you wish madam. But be prepared, for when the ceremony is completed I intend to storm you as if you were a fortress.” He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively before helping her onto to her horse.
When they returned to the villa Flaviola ran to her room and called for her mother. Varinia hadn’t heard it directly, but the young slave that Flaviola had the run-in over the perfume, did. At first she couldn’t believe the things she overheard Lady Flaviola saying about the General. And, when she said he told her the betrothal was being moved up so the wedding could be sooner, she really thought their master had lost his mind. The final straw was when he apparently told her he would never let her return to Rome. He would never be able to bear life without her and since he never wanted to leave Spain again she would not be able to either. Besides, having ten children took time. She would be pregnant for at least the next ten years and she wouldn’t be able to travel like that anyway. He could hardly wait to get her with child; shouldn’t they start now?
I had to laugh! “Decimus actually said ‘hide the sausage’? Oh, that’s rich! Multiple partners? Too much! Never let her return to Rome?” I laughed until my sides hurt.
That evening at supper he put the finishing touches on. He reached for Faviola’s hand and placed it on his crotch, right there before her mother and me. He then asked her, “Have you chosen your partner?” When Flaviola shook her head ‘no’, he continued. “Perhaps your mother?” He looked directly at Lady Flavia and smiled, “I’ll wager you could teach her a few things while I watch.”
Well, the creature and her spawn excused themselves so quickly I barely said good night to them.
Decimus looked at me with that little boy look he uses when he’s been bad. “What do you think? Will they be gone by tomorrow night?”
I snickered, “I should think they are packing right now. They may be gone by noon tomorrow!”
“So long as they go.” He grabbed my hand and kissed it. “Then we can plan the proper betrothal dinner. You know absolutely that the things I told Flaviola were meant to make her leave. I would never consider bedding that woman.”
“So she wasn’t willing to play ‘hide the sausage’?”
He laughed, “No, thank the gods! Perhaps you would?”
“Oh, I think something could be arranged.”
I was right. Decimus and I watched the back of their wagons as they moved down the lane toward the road to Trujillo. The weather, though not optimum, was holding and Maximus felt they would at least reach Trujillo and could find accommodations there until the weather was more stable.
“So, what explanation did they give for leaving in such haste?”
“Lady Flavia came to me and apologized this morning. She said that she had forgotten that her husband had already arranged for Flaviola to marry a Senator’s son and she certainly couldn’t gainsay her husband.”
I snickered, “All of a sudden, after months of putting up with her constant push for a marriage, she realized Flaviola was already promised? That’s what she said?”
“Yes, but I got the feeling that if Flaviola had accepted my conditions, Lady Flavia would have accepted them as well. I shudder to think of them both in my bed!”
“Well, I hate to think what they will do to your reputation once they reach Rome.”
He turned to me and took both my hands, “I don’t care about my reputation. Rome is very far away and I have no reason to go there ever again. As long as you know the real me, nothing else matters. I love you.”
“As I love you.”
Three days later we attended our betrothal dinner. A month later we were wed. Only six months after that our twins arrived. Maximus and Decimus were born healthy and strong and we look forward to a long and happy life together.
